What is E. turistas?

E. turistas (often written e-turistas or e.turistas) is the module of Lithuania's National Tourism Information System (NTIS) through which accommodation providers report the guests they host. It replaced paper guest registration cards: every adult guest is reported electronically, and the data feeds national tourism statistics and visitor-flow analysis.

Access is through the e-Government Gateway (VIISP) at eturistas.prisijungti.lt. On first login the property manager is linked to the licensed property and can create separate logins for staff, so reception works under its own accounts rather than the manager's.

It is not only for hotels.

If you hold an accommodation licence issued by the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority, the reporting requirement almost certainly applies to you–whether or not the property is classified.

Hotels, motels, campsites, and guesthouses are on the list, but so are private accommodation, hostels, holiday homes, sanatoriums, tourist boats, and rural tourism. If your activity type or licence has changed, check the latest NTIS guidance below–it is the official source.

You usually have 24 hours.

The general rule is straightforward: report the guest no later than 24 hours after accommodation begins. Rural tourism has a separate exception–reporting at least monthly–so those properties should open the official explanation linked below.

Every adult is registered, not only the lead guest on the booking. Mandatory fields: full name, date of birth, the country that issued the identity document, and arrival and departure dates. Additional fields cover country and city of residence, accompanying minors, whether the trip was booked through an organiser, and purpose of travel. Fields can change, so the NTIS completion guide is the final word.

Four ways to submit the data.

NTIS accepts guest data in several ways, and they differ enormously in effort. The first two suit occasional arrivals, the third moves the typing to the guest, and the fourth lets the system that already holds the reservation do the work.

As daily arrivals increase, manual entry quickly becomes a regular evening task. Choose a method that will cope with high season, not only a quiet January.

  • Manual entry on the E. turistas website–fine when you host a few guests a week.
  • Import from the Excel template–if you already collect the data in a spreadsheet.
  • A registration-card link sent to the guest–they fill it in before arrival.
  • API (OpenAPI) integration with your PMS–reservation data goes to NTIS without retyping. This is how Ovilo works.

Retyping is where the time disappears.

The manual route looks harmless: ask for the details, reopen the reservation, open E. turistas, and type everything again. Multiply that by a few arrivals every day and it becomes work guests never see but you cannot skip.

A better route starts with the guest. They complete a secure form before arrival and the PMS points out anything missing. Staff only handle the rare records that cannot be completed without a person.

  • Do not request identity details through ordinary email or messages.
  • Collect only what you actually need.
  • Keep the NTIS result beside the reservation.
  • Decide in advance what happens if the form is incomplete at arrival.

The guest fills it in. Ovilo submits it.

Before arrival, Ovilo sends the guest a registration link. They supply the required information themselves. It is connected to the correct booking and, with the E. turistas integration enabled, submitted to NTIS through the official API.

The reservation shows a plain status: submitted, missing information, or needs correction. Fewer copies mean faster work and less risk around identity data.

  • A registration link sent before arrival.
  • Details entered by the guest.
  • Submission to NTIS by Ovilo.
  • A visible result beside the reservation.

Ask to see what happens when it fails.

An ‘E. turistas integration’ badge tells you very little. During the demo, register two adults and deliberately leave an error. You will quickly see whether staff get a useful answer or have to hunt across several screens again.

Ask who can see identity-document data, how long it stays, and how it is deleted. A good integration saves time and reduces the number of copies. A bad one merely moves the manual work to a different screen.

Short answers

Common questions

What is E. turistas?
E. turistas (also written e-turistas or e.turistas) is the module of Lithuania's National Tourism Information System (NTIS) where accommodation providers register the guests they host. It replaced paper guest registration cards.
Who has to use E. turistas?
Licensed accommodation providers must report adult guests. This includes hotels, guesthouses, hostels, private accommodation, campsites, rural tourism, and the other categories listed by NTIS.
How do I log in to E. turistas?
Through the Lithuanian e-Government Gateway (VIISP) at eturistas.prisijungti.lt, using Smart-ID, Mobile-ID, or a bank login. On first login the property manager is linked to the licensed property and can create separate accounts for staff under “Users”. NTIS lists an alternative login route via its support desk for those who cannot use VIISP.
How long do I have to submit the data?
Usually 24 hours from the start of the stay. Rural tourism has an exception–reporting at least once a month–so those properties should follow the latest NTIS guidance.
Which data is required?
Mandatory fields: full name, date of birth, the country that issued the identity document, and arrival and departure dates. Additional fields cover country and city of residence, number of accompanying minors, whether the trip was booked through an organiser, and the main purpose of travel. Every adult guest is registered, not only the person who made the booking.
What happens if I do not report?
The NTIS FAQ lists administrative liability: a fine of €300–560 for a first offence and €560–900 for a repeat one. In practice providers are first asked to correct the omission, but the obligation applies from the first guest.
Does E. turistas have an API?
Yes. NTIS publishes an OpenAPI specification, so a property management system can submit guest data directly without manual entry. Ovilo's E. turistas integration works through this interface.
Can the guest complete it themselves?
Yes. Guests can fill in a secure registration form before arrival. That removes the need to request identity details by ordinary email or retype them at reception.
What exactly does Ovilo do?
Ovilo connects the guest's form to the reservation, checks for missing fields, and submits the details to NTIS when the integration is enabled. The reservation shows whether NTIS accepted it or something needs correction.
