Is iCal sync between Booking.com and Airbnb enough?

For one unit with occasional bookings, maybe. For several rooms or active rentals, no: iCal updates with a delay, carries only blocked dates and never carries prices.

iCal is a calendar file the platform re-reads periodically, often every few hours. In that gap the same room can be sold twice.

iCal also knows nothing about rates, minimum stays or guest contacts. All of that still has to be managed on each platform separately.

An API connection (channel management) pushes availability and rates immediately, in both directions, and brings in full booking details.

How Ovilo handles it

Ovilo connects to Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia, Agoda, Trip.com and Google through an API connection: availability, rates and restrictions are managed from one place.
